Activities and Strategy

The Government of Arunachal Pradesh, through its Department of Trade & Commerce, is implementing a series of activities and long-term strategies to position the state as a leading trade and export hub of North-East India. These efforts are designed to unlock the state’s unique strengths in horticulture, handicrafts, plantation crops, and border trade, while also aligning with India’s Act East Policy.

 


 

Key Activities

 

1. Export Facilitation

  • Establishment of Export Facilitation Desks at the state and district level.

  • Assistance with export documentation, customs clearance, and compliance certifications.

  • Support for GI registration, branding, and packaging of local products.

2. Capacity Building & Awareness

  • Workshops, training programs, and seminars for farmers, SHGs, and exporters.

  • Awareness campaigns on international quality standards, certifications, and packaging.

  • Exposure visits and participation in national and international trade fairs.

3. Sector-Specific Interventions

  • Development of clusters for oranges, large cardamom, ginger, rubber, bamboo, and kiwi.

  • Promotion of handicrafts and handlooms through design support and e-commerce linkages.

  • Encouragement of organic farming for global niche markets.

4. Export Promotion Events

  • Hosting buyer-seller meets and trade expos in collaboration with APEDA, DGFT, and other national boards.

  • Facilitation of participation in international exhibitions for Arunachal Pradesh’s products.

  • Marketing support for SHGs and women entrepreneurs under gender budgeting initiatives.

5. Policy & Institutional Support

  • Implementation of the State Export Strategy (SES) and District Export Action Plans (DEAPs).

  • Coordination with central agencies such as DGFT, MPEDA, Rubber Board, Coffee Board, and EXIM Bank.

  • Integration of GIS mapping and Export MIS systems for real-time monitoring.

 


 

Strategic Roadmap

 

1. Strengthening District Export Hubs

  • Each district is being developed as a specialized export hub under the One District One Product (ODOP) initiative.

  • Mapping of local products with domestic and global demand.

2. Infrastructure Development

  • Investment in warehousing, cold storage, container depots, and transport connectivity.

  • Development of border trade facilities at Indo-Myanmar, Indo-Bhutan, and Indo-China trade routes.

  • Promotion of logistics corridors to improve last-mile connectivity.

3. Digital & Technology Integration

  • Use of GIS platforms to map products, infrastructure, and markets.

  • Establishment of a real-time Export MIS system for data-driven decision making.

  • Digital platforms for trader registration, buyer-seller interaction, and e-commerce integration.

4. Policy & Incentive Framework

  • Financial assistance to exporters for transport, packaging, branding, and certification.

  • Special schemes for women-led SHGs, youth entrepreneurs, and cooperatives.

  • Focus on organic and sustainable products in alignment with global consumer trends.

5. Regional & Cross-Border Trade

  • Strengthening border trade through border haats and integrated check-posts (ICPs).

  • Leveraging Arunachal’s location to connect with Bhutan, Myanmar, and China.

  • Participation in regional trade agreements and corridors under the Act East Policy.

 


 

Outcomes Expected

  • Increase in the export volume and value from Arunachal Pradesh.

  • Improved global recognition and branding of the state’s unique products.

  • Enhanced participation of farmers, SHGs, and entrepreneurs in international trade.
